Halloween Costumes?
I own i-pets.com, which sells pet treats and supplies, so I spend quite a bit of time on the Internet looking at pet stuff. Mainly, I like to see what other pet companies are selling and what the prices are like.I noticed recently that a whole new luxury pet market is becoming popular - pet jewelry, designer pet fashions, luxury pet furniture; lots of new stuff. What amazes me though is the clothing. Clothing for pets? Since when were pets meant to wear clothes? You can buy dresses, shoes, t-shirts, tuxedos, raincoats, hats, sunglasses, bathrobes, perfume, nail-polish - - - you name it!
Then, there's pet costumes ... It's amazing how much disposable income some people have, isn't it?
I've never dressed my pets. Well, almost never. The closest I came was to put a hat from a teddy bear on Bandit. He was not pleased, to say the least, and I learned not to ever do that again!
Some people seem to get great enjoyment from thinking up ideas for pet clothing and Halloween costumes. I've found quite a few ...

My co-workers, knowing that I have 3 cats, and that my sons, in their own households, have 5 more, figured (correctly) that I would appreciate a very unique and quite appetizing cake for my birthday celebration.
We enjoyed this mouth watering creation on Monday:

Isn't it a multi-billion dollar industry the amount folks spend on their pets? Pretty amazing!
Kitty litter cake is YUMMY! And what's even better, my kids love it and my mother in law thinks we're insane, so she never bothers with us anymore. Bwa ha hah a.... See, there's method to my madness.
My SIL actually puts booties on her dog to take him out in the winter. It's not like he's out for more than 10 minutes, and if it's that cold that you need to do that in WNY, then you need to just stay in the freakin house! (Yes, she also dresses him up for halloween and yes, she DOES have a human child.)
It's one thing to spike your dog's hair in different colors just for fun and use the spikey dog collar. It's another to actually purchase wardrobes for them.
My personal favorite is the cat-cow or should I say cow-cat. The duck-cat and pirate-cat are in a dead heat for 2nd place. I once put an angel costume on Willow, one of our Ragdolls. In the first place, the devil costume would have been more appropriate, but she immediately laid down on her stomach, head down, paws spread out, as flat as she could get. This is not easy for a cat that weighs 18 pounds and has six inch fur on top of that. She wouldn't move anything but her tail and it was flogging out the message that she was not pleased.
Daisy Mae Tales is a little dog's site whose mom regularly dresses her. It is pretty cute.
Unless you count collars, I don't dress up my pets either, I think it's mean. Jaxsun, my husky, wears a bandana on occasion and that's the extent of it.
